Cryptocurrency wallets allow you to store your cryptocurrencies either in your computer desktop, laptop, pad, in the cloud on exchanges or online wallets, or your phone. There are devices that have been made to just store your cryptocurrencies and they look like a thumb drive. Alternatively one can also store their cryptocurrencies on PAPER wallets using QR Code technology.
Note:
It is advisable to NOT store your cryptocurrencies in the cloud or in online wallets for long term storage. Keeping your cryptocurrencies in your control is really the whole idea behind it in the first place.
If a website goes down, during that time you don't have access to your property.
Additionally, it is super important that you make your backups and store your private keys and passwords in a secure place. (example would be keeping all of your private keys and passwords on paper and on a laptop that isn't connected to the internet, preferably both)
